Our family had no history of this disgusting disease before my father was stationed there. Within 10 years, he had juvenile diabetes and died in 1989 at the age of 58 due to many complications. My nephew, now 17, was diagnosed at 2, my sister at 43, and now, me. I'm convinced it was due to exposure while he was proudly serving our country and I am sooooo pissed off right now. I've always been convinced that Chernobyl was a great contributing factor. We need to get rid of this crap NOW!! Oh yeah, I lived about 15 miles away from the Perry Nuclear Plant, and obviously live close to Three Mile Island. I was pregnant with my son when Chernobyl melted.
