REAL MILK if for BABY COWS...god people are stupid...this is clearly written by someone with an interest in the dairy industry. Too much of anything is bad. You can buy a good quality organic soy milk or make your own.

Hi Beth
Considering all the info on the dangers of soy, Elaine's story above and my own experiences with several friends children I know, and my own, I feel drinking soy milk is dangerous. Its also a highly processed food. Cavities are not caused by poor oral hygiene, they are caused by diet. 14 Indigenous groups Dr Price studied had perfect teeth and they didn't brush, floss or any of that.
I wont touch it now, not even a bite of tofu in a Japanese restaurant. There are so many women that wish they knew, at least you get a choice because you found this article before you've had children.

Kind regards,
Cathy

So, some comments back-
Anita, where did you specifically get this information? I just did a quick search on the FDA site (im not familiar with it, I'm Australian) & didn't find anything. Also, my cavities are from bad dental habits & my reactions to fluoride (I have severe reactions to many chemicals), not soy milk.
Cathy - I have tried many different types of milk, I can't drink any of them. Soy/rice milk are the only ones I can drink without getting sick.

Also, i mentioned before that my Nana drinks Soy. I'm not sure for how long, but my guess would be most her life too ( I know she has for a very long time). It has had no effects on her- she is very healthy & strong-, my mum or her younger sister (both in their forties, & had children), my sister or cousins.

It just goes to show that in the land of the blind, the man with one eye is king... You people always find something to get on a soapbox about don't you? Why not just let people live their lives? Did you know that the number one leading cause of death for ALL persons - not just Americans or Australians or Indians or whatever - is being alive? Hard to swallow, I know, but consider how many lives we could save if we just quit making more people. As Bob Barker would say, "Help save the human population; have yourself spade or neutered." Thanks.

Hello Beth

Well that's interesting about your experience with soy. If you are first born and your mother was very healthy your body will cope with more stress, though your cavities are likely related to soy milk. I didn't notice soy's worst effects till I became pregnant. My teeth were eroding before my eyes along gum line. Nina suffered serious colic for 3 months often a sign of mineral difficiency.
In regards to lactose have you seen any of Nourished discussions on raw dairy? <Many people with dairy allergies, sensitivities thrive on it. I'm one of those too, only i ferment my raw milk into kefir making it even more probiotic, nutritious and digestable. There's also the www.realmilk.com site. In Australia raw milk is sold as "Bath Milk" as it is illegal.

Beth,
All I can say is that you seem to have been extremely lucky to have so far avoided any of the common problems most people experience with soy. Others can seem to live on fast foods for life, with no apparent problems. Remember, when someone's falling off a cliff, he doesn't feel any discomfort the minute before he falls. One thing that I found particularly scary about soy is that the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) & the FDA have never approved soy protein as GRAS (Goods Recognized As Safe). The FASEB decided that the only satisfactory use for soy protein was as a Cardboard Packaging Sealer, and that was because not enough carcinogen would leach into the contents to pose a health hazard. That doesn't sound nourishing to me.

Cathy - It's true, I've been on soy pretty much my whole life, at least from age of 2. Since I was about.. 15.. i think.. I've gone off it for weeks, maybe a couple of months at times & didn't replace it wit anything (I just didn't feel like drinking any milk so i didn't), & then have a few weeks where I drink heaps of it. I had rice milk for a total of 2 weeks (because mum accidently brought the wrong thing). My health doesn't change whether I'm drinking it or not.
I've had a few fillings etc, not many, & dont get enough calcium so I have calcium tablets but my calcium isn't that bad anyway. Never broken a bone so my bones aren't weak. I started puberty when I was about 12..
I have some Asian in me, which is the reason my doctors gave for my lactose intolerence (& that dentists gave for my sister's teeth).

A 'childhood' friend of mine, last time i saw her brother he was about 22 i think & he is completly lactose intolerant & had only soy milk products all his life. Last time I saw him his health was fine too (his sister was the kinda of friend who would tell me if something was wrong).
