My teenage daughter and I recently stopped consuming Soy Milk because she wanted to change to rice milk (just for the taste). I changed also as I wondered about the effects on female hormones and we were both suffering from heavy menstrual periods which were too frequent. To my suprise, after about 2 weeks, we are both having a far more normal period. I don't believe that this is just a coincidence. My intake of other soy products (ie tofu, soy 'dogs' etc.) had not changed, but I will drastically reduce these also.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for negating the effects of phytoestrogens?

As a Health Kinesiologist, I know that everyone is individual and one rule for one does not necessarily apply to all, but as a Mother of a teenage vegetarian, I was surprised that in a session with my Daughter, it came up that she should cut down drastically on her soya intake. Her body knew it was not doing her any good, so thanks for all this info as it helps me to understand.

My doctor said to me a few years ago that he goes to health semimnars around the world. He said we have a good medical system, ie; all women here are able to see a doctor.
In poor countries women do not see doctors, so the menopausal symtons are not recorded as in the western world. This gives a false reading that soy is beneficial to women.

In the blog.....Bread Dread- are you really gluten intolerant, by clive lawler on this Nourish web site, Clive has good info about the need to have food 'fermented'. Beans and pulses have to be soaked before use to remove certain things that are harmful to our systems. Please read it and you see what i mean.

Soy in asian countries is fermented. Are our soy milk and soy products fermented to remove these harmful substances?????

Haha, what a load of propaganda and scaremongering this article is. How come we never heard anything about this "boy growing breasts" before? Links to that story would be appreciated, and I'm sure you can't blame soy for that, most likely it's a combination of factors.

Thanks for the info. My first post was a bit harsh. This article is meant to start discussions and get people looking for info to back it up I guess, not to be an all inclusive study. I'll have to check out those books.

Probably steer clear of lamb organs however, where most of the healing components are. Pesticides in dips are bound to gravitate to fattiest parts. You could mail order via one of our Sponsors, like Mitchell Grass Meats.
