It was heartbreaking to watch Nathan so ill though he very courageously seldom complained. I remember his little son used to say, "daddy's sick but he will be better soon" and I was inspired by the positive atmosphere Kirsten and Nathan kept in their home. Because Kirsten and Nathan had done the hard yards for me when I developed colitis as an acute reaction to taking a strong antibiotic called keflex they were able to guide me through the what and how to eat a restorative diet. Chicken soup, (brasco broth), became a source of life for me 'cause I couldn't even eat a mouthful of any solid food without pain and diarrhoea for some months after taking the keflex. The chicken soup sustained me until I was able to add kefir and yoghurt and then eggs. This diet gradually brought me back to health and weight gain again from losing nearly a stone in weight when I became sick. I had been 54 kilos from age 16 to 60 years and dropped to 44 kilos. Now I love the quality of life I have again and enjoy following recipes from such books as Nourishing Traditions. Thankyou Kirsten and Nathan for all the help you've given me in getting healthy again.
