It is a great article. Lots of information and very systematic. However, if you find that you have three things from each list then what you should understand. It that they are in balance. Is it possible that all of them are disturbed? In that case what one should do? I am told that Triphla controls all of them and balance them. Is it true? Do you have exclusive Ayurveda medicines for balancing them when you are not sure in which category you fit?

Hi to all,
I found Marks article very handy, as it was easy to read & at the least, as informative as all the others i've read recently.
I am searching for a lifestyle change to deal with longterm dis-ease.
Ayurveda seems to incorporate all areas, mind body spirit. Yet it allows the novice to gradually make their way into the whole while still reaping benefits by taking it step by step.
One thing that has me a bit confused is the variation with dietary recommendations in some of the articles i've read, ie foods for the various dosha balancing.
I do agree that some imput to dual dosha info would be great, think im VP.
I have just begun a 'intro to' course & implementing some of the things I'm learning.
I am finding it beneficial to my life.
Thank you for a good read, this includes all the comments as well.
Peace to all

In fact you can conduct a self test in order to know your dosha type. Few websites offer this online quizz.
If you want an interesting discussion about ayurveda doshas, have a look at this discussion:

The basic write up is good. However I know many ppl suffering from combinations like vaat-pitta which gets very tricky because when you try to fix vaat it increases pitta and vice - versa. It would be nice if you could adress those combibnations as well.

ALso , what could be nice is to let us know what we could do to better our bodies to make them fit enough to be able to have everything hot / coold / vaat causing fooods / pitta causing foods / cough causing foods and yet not suffer from those doshaas. As i think all the boave happens as our has a deficieny and it is not able to digest the respective things. SO it would be better if we could make our bodies stronng rather than to live a live of prevention. IF I suffer from vaat I would want to be able have all kinds of foods without suffering from vaat rather than avoiding the food all my life. Thats not a treatment , its prevention.

Dear Mark,

It is a nice writeup on prakritis and doshas. However there are many people suffering from combination of doshas such as vata pitta. Can you kindly tell us what precautions or lifestyle changes is required in such cases.

regards,
jasmine.
