What a wonderful article, it particularly resonates with me as a physiotherapist struggling with trying to treat the symptoms (pain) of forward head postures and the difficulty of trying to get people to change their posture. Fascinating.
I must say, I have struggled with mild nasal obstruction most of my life, but the last 3 years have done a prolonged (21 day) raw milk based fast. I'm sure it's this (in addition to the other nourishing principles we live by) that has made a cumulative change to my relatively mild problems, after each fast my body feels as if it has shed layers of it's old junk and is lighter and restoring itself if that's possible. I did hear somewhere that your body replaces all it's cells every 7 years - so maybe we are not just stuck with what we have.
Now I need to find a dentist in Australia who can help me with this, as whilst we have gotten rid of my (second born and too close together :() 6 year old sons tooth decay he has huge teeth coming in, and his facial structure is pretty good it's looking as if there might not be quite enough room for them all.
Is there a listing of prctitioners providing this treatment - we are in Adelaide South Australia.

I am 18 years old and was going to have my palate widened surgically in a few weeks. I have all the symptoms listed above of a poor facial development including football shaped eyes, small jaws and a narrow face. In your article you decribed that once the maxilla is developed, everything else will become more develeped and will have more space to grow. At my age, is this still possible? because i have heard that the face continues to grow and develope till the age of 21 (in some circumstances). Will the other features like skull shape also widen?
Can you please get back to me on that?
thank you

I am wondering if I should have my 18 year old daughters wisdom teeth pulled. They seem to be causing her some pain right now. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys,
I've never posted on here, but have been reading for a while.
This article is fantastic and makes so much sense. I have had a lot of orthodontic treatment done all my childhood and during my teenage years. Also my husband only just recently underwent orth. treatment and had braces for over 2 years. Since then, he has been fully mouth breathing and has had huge sinus problems, as well as other issues.
Anyway, regarding rectifying things, I have found BodyTalk extremely helpful. (check out website: www.bodytalksystem.com). It addresses things in the order and way that your innate wisdom wants it, and not what your mind actually thinks the reason is or what could fix it. As many of you have written, it is nearly impossible to realy point to a reason, why we have certain health issues, so I have found it much easier to relax and let my body fix itself :-), plus of course also doing the best I can to nourish ourselves well.
There are also lots of techniques as part of the BT protocol, which stem from cranio sacral therapy and osteopathy, without being manipulative, that address widening of the jaw and opening up the breath way. If our zygoma is locked also, our pelvis will lock in correspondence, alas the high rise in birthing dificulties!!!
All really fascinating.
When you check out the website, you can go on 'find a practitioner', in whatever country you are, put the city in etc. and you'll be guided to the one that is right for you!
All the best and much love to all of you

Wow, that's amazing Kila. Thank goodness you had the sense to get out of there. Can I have your permission to reprint your answer in the group where I posted the question for you? It's the Weston Price chapter leader's group and that was where, in response to your questions, someone responded with the clouds of death (2-4-D) article. So I would love to come back to them with the feedback of your experience and how closely it relates. Sounds like your kids are doing great and I'm sure things will correct themselves over time. And if not, jaw widening sounds like it's an option (so great to know this is an option for adults too!). Wish I could come and learn some cooking tips in your kitchen! Sounds great!!

Sometimes preconceptive health care alone is not enough - from the point of view that you're receiving adequate nutrients from diet and nutrition. If your digestive system is compromised in any way from either your own nutritional deficiencies, allergies or the legacy of a previous refined Western diet then chances are high that you're not absorbing and assimilating nutrients correctly. You're not 'what you eat', instead, you are what you absorb as well as what you don't eat.

Then there's factors such as stress and illness during pregnancy. We have much more to combat than a diet high in refined flour, sugar and alcohol as was pretty much the Western diet in Dr. Prices day. We live in an increasingly toxic, fast paced 24/7 society where relaxing or having a proper nights sleep is almost seen as sheer indulgence. We have to combat and overcome issues of toxicity as well as poor nutrition. For example: excessive stress increases copper retention in the body which antagonises zinc - this means you may be getting enough zinc through your diet but your body can't use it due to excessively high copper levels, so you exhibit all the symptoms of zinc deficiency.

Also, nutritional deficiencies during pregnancy such as zinc can impact upon health for several generations. The health of your child today may also be the result of what your grandmother ate (or didn't eat) while pregnant with your mother.

We all do the best we can and that's all we can do. Take heart in the fact that even if your child shows symptoms of inadquate nutrition despite your best efforts, you can still nourish them with the foods that we probably didn't receive as children (and help them avoid the disgusting array of junk foods sold in our supermarkets aimed at children) so that your grandchildren and great grandchildren will benefit from your love and foresight.

Lots of love and nourishing thoughts, actions and food to all

Thank you for posting about the 2-D4 contamination. I am going to print that article and give it to several people. The interesting thing is we were living in a small house way out in the country on about a half an acre surrounded by cattle. Before we moved there I lived on a biodynamic farm so we never sprayed anything and when we moved to this little house I felt pretty secure since there wasn't any farming, only pasture. Terrible mistake on my part. One day I woke up to the sound of a tractor running fairly close to my back fence. I was three months pregnant at the time with my last child. I looked out the window and saw the rider suited up and with a gas mask. Not something you want to see out your window from your porch pregnant and with two small children. I got out of there and we moved within the month. However I did have some inhalation, the smell was very strong. The house had recently been moved there. And we had noticed that the garden we planted simply would not grow no matter how we amended it. I now feel certain that the ground was contaminated from repeated spraying.

My oldest daughter's front teeth came in during that time and one has very weak enamel and she developed an overbite, fortunately she still doesn't have any cavities. I must emphasize that her jaw alignment was perfect until that time. My son was born healthy and at home, however, he had an undescended testicle(it has since dropped down but is smaller than the other) and has a slight underbite. Otherwise, the children are all very healthy. I have immediately started the homeopathics she recommended in the article. My oldest daughters front teeth came in quite crooked but have since straightened out a lot. We will see if the jaw continues to correct. We eat lots of organ meats as I was taught not to waste anything. We make medicine out of many of the glands(adrenals, thymus, pancreas, spleen). Now I understand why they are so important. I grew up on liver and brains and kidneys and have always fed it to my kids. People have been aghast to learn I feed my kids raw buffalo liver, raw fish etc. We also always ate the roe/eggs whenever we could get them. My family were all herbalists so we also use a lot of wild plants, but now they are so hard to find without spray and poison all over them. No more gathering berries and grapes along the roadsides.

This all makes me so sad... why do they poison us? Why this death wish? Why do they destroy everything good? My mother is Cherokee and that is my heritage and so much of what my granmothers said is brought to mind.

Good luck to all..

wado aye dohiyi

Thanks AmandaL.
That's really good to hear. I still have slightly crowded teeth on my upper jaw, and a wisdom tooth still inside my lower jaw - no room for it to come through, and didn't want it surgically removed.. Perhaps widening the bottom jaw would allow room for it to come through. The bottom row of teeth are still slightly crowded but could do with a little extra room.
I am definitely going to look into this. Thankyou!

Karen, my brother had his jaw widened when he was in his 30's. He had to wear an expander in his top jaw. I also know an aunty who had in done in her 40's because of a misaligned jaw. I'm one of the unfortunates too, 4 second teeth pulled and the smallest mouth you've ever seen. I remember moving interstate after I had my teeth pulled out and the new orthodontist said "Who pulled out your teeth? Why? We could have given you the most amazing smile!" I honestly think about what he said a lot. I think it may be too late if you've had your teeth removed. I would have too many gaps in my mouth if they widened my jaw. You may have better luck.

Kila - I would say its Price's X-factor that was missing or under-present in your diet prior due and during conception and pregnancy. The X-factor has pretty well been identified as Vitamin K2 now. You can read about it here: http://www.westonaprice.org/basicnutrition/vitamin-k2.html . It's found in greatest quantities in organ meats which most of our parents and grandparents ate but has pretty much been phased out of most people's diets.
Extract from article:
"Vitamin K2 plays a crucial role in the development of the facial bones, and its presence in the diets of nonindustrialized peoples explains the wide facial structure and freedom from dental deformities that Weston Price observed."
I remember from Sally's lecture that it is particularly important in the development of the middle 3rd of the face which would affect overbites and underbites.
Another point that was mentioned when I asked around for you was whether there is a possibility that your well water was contaminated with agricultural pesticides? This article: http://www.westonaprice.org/envtoxins/clouds.html talks about overbites and underbites in animals observed on farms where the water was contaminated.
It's encouraging that Christy has been able to make corrections to her son's jaw by supplementation so perhaps that is an option for you. Your children are blessed with two parents who had optimal nutrition as children so I'm sure they have strong constitutions.
Hope this info has helped.

This article: http://www.westonaprice.org/envtoxins/clouds.html talks about overbites and underbites in animals observed on farms where the water was contaminated.
It’s encouraging that Christy has been able to make corrections to her son’s jaw by supplementation so perhaps that is an option for you. Your children are blessed with two parents who had optimal nutrition as children so I’m sure they have strong constitutions.
Hope this info has helped.
