Taking cod liver oil was a good idea back in the 1930's but not today due to the vitamin A/vitamin D ratio in modern cod liver oil.

At least IF you are going to take cod liver oil you should take 5000 IUs a day of vitamin D.
Better yet take only the vitamin D supplement and get your vitamin A from eating foods high in vitamin A.
......................................…
A study published in year 2004 showed that cod liver oil and a multivitamin slightly reduced mean number of respiratory infections in children, but the total number of doctor visits for these infections was slightly higher in the cod liver oil/multivitamin group (68 versus 61). The 1930s study demonstrated far superior benefits with cod liver oil.

One difference between these studies is that cod liver oil in the 1930s study had more vitamin D. The other issue is that children in the 2004 study received 3,500 IU of preformed vitamin A (not beta-carotene) and only 700 IU of vitamin D.

Given what we now know, a more appropriate dose should have been 500-1,000 IU of vitamin A (instead of 3,500 IU used in the 2004 study) and 2,000-3,000 IU of vitamin D3 (as opposed to 700 IU used in the 2004 study).
Excess Vitamin A Can Thwart Vitamin D

Vitamins A and D compete for each other’s function in the body. Preformed vitamin A, found in excess amount in many commercial supplements, can thwart vitamin D’s protective effects. This is not an issue with beta-carotene, as it converts to vitamin A in the body only on demand.

Consumption of excess preformed vitamin A, as found in commercial multivitamins and modern cod liver oil, may cause bone toxicity in those with inadequate vitamin D status. One study showed that women with the highest intake of preformed vitamin A had 2.1 times more hip fractures. A meta-analysis found that people who took preformed vitamin A supplements had a 16% increase in overall mortality, perhaps through antagonism of vitamin D.
......................................…
Also from Dr. Joel Fuhrman:
Are there any problems with taking supplements?
The main problem with taking a typical multivitamin is that it may expose you to extra nutrients that you do not need. Sometimes too much of certain nutrients can have toxic or harmful effects. For example, I do not recommend taking supplements that contain vitamin A, isolated beta-carotene, or iron, because there are risks associated with consumption of these nutrients above what we receive in our diet.

Ingesting vitamin A or beta-carotene in isolation--from supplements, instead of from food--may interfere with the absorption of other crucially important carotenoids, such as lutein and lycopene, thus potentially increasing cancer risk. 1

The precursor to vitamin A, beta-carotene once was regarded as a safe and beneficial antioxidant and even recommended as an anti-cancer vitamin, but it has recently been shown to increase the risk of certain cancers when administered as an isolated supplement. Scientists now suspect that problems may result when beta-carotene is ingested without other carotenoids that would have been present had it been ingested from real food. Beta-carotene is only one of about 500 carotenoids that exist. Beta-carotene supplements are poor substitutes for the broad assortment of carotenoid compounds found in plants.

I have 2 crowns already (on my teeth, unfortunately not on my head - haha) and my dentist has told me I'm grinding my teeth at night while I sleep and basically ruining my teeth, causing cracks and decay as all the enamel is being worn off. So I've been reading up on what I can do to reverse the problem and come up with CLO and raw butter. I've started taking a teaspoon of CLO a day and I found a place to buy raw milk, and just yesterday made my own raw butter, but it didn't make that much. So my question is how much CLO and butter should I be having to reverse the situation and how long might it take? The other problem is that I'm hoping to become pregnant soon, so obviously I don't want to overdo it on the CLO.
Thanks for any insights.

Also here is something to think about i cut and paste it

".........Recent research also revealed, that the transformation humans underwent when apes became intelligent and turned into humans happened only in coastal regions, where the apes started to consume large amounts of fish. Why not benefit from that knowledge and consume more fish oil?......."

I have had my Mercury Fillings removed from a man named Dr Hal Huggins which was great. He was a protoge of Weston Price and peaks highly of his findings. He has me on a high butter diet but not Cod Liver Oil as there is Mercury in it, and trust me when i come across Mercury now i get a reaction worse than when i had Amalgam Fillings. What to do ?

I also once watched a special on BBC about people with depression. It showed the Atrophy of the Brain tissue in this person before the protocol then showed the vast improvement after the protocol. The protocol was feeding the depressed person Fish Oil (not sure if it was Cod Liver Oil) for 9 weeks and also Free Range Fresh Eggs from chickens that had been eating a Green plant called 'Leutin' i think. What remarkable results . . . . . can't find this footage anywhere .

I found this an interesting article and is consistent with other research I have done on fats such as coconut oil and butter, all of which are healthy fats despite popular theories from so-called 'experts'. The popular misconceptions about high cholestrol are also myths and the truth about cholestrol should be published and taught more often. The reason why there is an obesity epidemic these days is due to the promotion of low-fat foods which are devoid of healthy fats and instead loaded with sugars and chemicals. Of course, the companies that produce these 'plastic' foods are raking in billions of dollars and do not want the public to know the truth.
Lets get back to eating the way people did prior to the 1930's, plenty of fresh eggs, butter and organic vegetables and fruit, and cut out all this processed garbage and low-fat products. People will never need to go on diets. They will return to a normal healthy weight automatically.
