Principles of Nourishment

Nourished Magazine, its contributors, practitioners and product and service providers agree to the following principles of “right living”.

Native Nutrition

Foods and food supplements recommended by Nourished Magazine are organic or locally grown and sustainably farmed with minimum to no pesticides and fertilizers. They are traditional; proven to have been used by societies for at least 400 years. They may derive from traditional or primitive food but must be prepared with traditional techniques. For example, while we recommend using tempeh as part of a balanced diet, we do not recommend tofu in large amounts, nor soy milk, soy yoghurt or soy oil etc. Soy in the form of Tempeh has been used by asian people for many thousands of years while soy milk was not heard of until last century. All foods, supplements and food preparation techniques align with the Weston A Price Foundation’s approved Characteristics of Traditional Foods.

The greatest heritage of the white man today is the accumulated wisdom of the human race.
- Weston Price “Nutrition and Physical Degeneration”

Natural Health

Nourished Magazine operates from the belief that human physiology is perfect and seeks to return to perfection in every moment. Given half the chance and with correct nourishment, the body will heal itself.

Treatments, practitioners and products that Nourished Magazine recommends are nurturing, non-invasive and traditional or wholistic; that is they support the whole organism to thrive. In no way do they replace or interfere with the body’s natural function or interfere with the body’s natural cycles of cleansing and healing.

Green Living

Products and services recommended by Nourished Magazine are considered to be in some way sustainable. This means that the needs of our environment’s biodiversity and natural ecosystems are met as well as those of our societies members and economies, both locally and globally. The impact of the production, marketing, packaging and consumption are, if not positive, minimal. The company manufacturing and marketing the product is not an arm of a larger global corporation. Localism is key.

Examples of sustainable products are those that are made from renewable resources like natural organic fibres or recycled materials. They are produced using carbon neutralised or carbon free energy. They are fair trade and contribute to the long-term prosperity of their producers and their consumers.

Healthy Families

Conscious Parenting and conscious living are ideals we share with our readers. Nourished Magazine recognises that investing in the wellbeing of our children is the ultimate sustainable, political and spiritual act. How we choose to create our family life will inevitably affect how our children and grandchildren live in the world. This is where our true power is.

Nourished Magazine serves those who believe that the choices we make now will create our future. Our readers’ passions are many: natural sexuality, fertility and pregnancy, natural and home birthing, full term demand breast feeding, co-sleeping and baby wearing, alternative and home schooling, natural immunity, community living, a clean environment, and ancestral nutrition.

Nourished Magazine serves those who believe our world is being created in every moment by our every thought and choice. We are here to inform you, inspire you and cheer you on.
