About Nourished Magazine

Fundamental to our vision for this magazine is our desire to help others live their birthright: a life of abundant health, happiness and connectivity with each other and with all that lives.

We have discovered that one way to experience this life is to make decisions based on the answer to one simple question:

What is the most nourishing choice I can make right now?

We understand that any decision arising from this simple question will always create abundance. It is our sincere desire that by using this site, you and those you love, will feel more Nourished.

What is Nourished Magazine?

Nourishing Blogs

We realise that learning about wellness takes a lot of support, so we offer a space for you to share your experience. Create your own online journal of wellness - we call it a Nourishing Blog. Tell your story, muse over your life and receive nourishing feedback from others. Read others’ journeys too, including those of Nourished Magazine’s contributors, through our weblogs. Perhaps we have already found the answer to what you seek or maybe you can help us.

Nourishing Practitioners

At the Nourished MarketPlace, we offer a collection of practitioners whose practice aligns with the Principles of Nourished Magazine. You can recommend Practitioners you love and comment on your experiences with them. Practitioners may choose to run their own online journal, a bonus for anyone wanting to know more about them and their particular brand of nourishment.

Nourishing Sources

We also offer sources: wise foods, books and products to help you live a nourishing lifestyle. You can recommend a source and comment on those we list.

Nourishing Wisdom

While our primary focus is on disseminating alternative health and nutritional wisdom, we also offer information to help you make other lifestyle choices. We understand that health, parenting, ecological and food choices are all related and so we cover the following topics.

Healthy Families

Our children teach us so much, not least is the realisation that serving them and their future is an honour and a joy. We realise that the culture we work within is far from nourishing for our children and ourselves as parents. We seek to create a culture within our families and our community that is both nourishing and nurturing for children and families. Some of the choices we make appear strange to those who do not value nourishment as we do. We know many of our readers are making similarly unusual choices also and we wish to support this new nourishing culture with Nourished Magazine.

“Each of our children were born as close to nature’s intention and with as much presence and awareness of their spirit as we could manage at the time. Each birth was a Lotus Birth. Our last two children were born in water, unassisted.” Joanne Hay

Nourished Magazine wishes to convey the joy that is natural birth as well as to offer you some great “how to” information.

Families have specific needs regarding nutrition, wellness and lifestyle choices. Nourished Magazine offers articles about the many aspects of family life: fertility, prenatal nutrition and wellness, breastfeeding and growing strong bodies, dealing with schooling and emotions, sexuality and relationships are but a few topics we offer. Being part of a nourishing community is so vital to the well being of families. We endeavour to make available a place for you to share your world with us through your online journal.

Green Living

Making decisions based on the most nourishing choice for our planet’s wellbeing as well as our own, creates a lifestyle we can enjoy and be proud to live. Nourished Magazine offers you an inspirational and practical guide to a lifestyle that is nourishing, healthy, wholesome and wise for all who inhabit our world.

Native Nutrition

From just about every media vehicle, there is a virtual avalanche of information about human nutrition. With opinions and “scientific” research abounding, it’s hard to determine what to eat anymore.

Most say low fat is the way to go; some say low carb, others vegetarian, vegan, macrobiotic, raw food, and so the list goes on. At the risk of adding our voice to the cacophony, we believe the best way to design the perfect diet for your physiology is to follow the lead of your ancestors.

Reaching into the past, we find that primitive peoples around the globe eat diets that ensure a long and productive life. Generation after generation, primitive women easily birthed perfectly formed, robust children with very strong immune systems. We too can have this abundance of health if we follow the lead of our ancestors. The survival of these cultures without the assistance of modern medicine for millennia is evidence enough that their diet was superior to the myriad of modern fads.

Thankfully, in the 1930s before most primitive societies were drowned in the tide of civilisation, researchers like Weston Price studied and recorded the native nutrition of people around the globe. Implementing the characteristics of these traditional diets is what Nourished Magazine seeks to support.

By sharing their journey, readers and contributors to Nourished Magazine help each other to learn new ways to live old ways. Finding our way back to living closer to nature is sometimes tough. We support each other with stories, information and encouraging words.

Natural Health

All too often, humans make decisions based on fixing what’s wrong: on alleviating discomfort in the short term often without proper regard for long term repercussions. Most of us have been taught to operate from the belief that when we are unwell we are broken and need to be fixed. We do this by alleviating the symptoms, drugging the body and, if all else fails, by cutting out the offending tissue. Even some alternative therapies operate from the belief that disease is caused by dirtiness and the body needs to be cleaned.

Nourished Magazine operates from the understanding that human physiology is perfect and seeks to return to perfection in every moment. Given half the chance and with correct nourishment, the body will heal itself.

All contributors, advertisors and MarketPlace members abide by Nourished Magazines Principles of Nourishment.

Each of us has our own journey in health to share. There a precious few who have survived the last 50 years of industrialised living without some form of dis-ease. Nourishing Blogs hopes to provide a place for you to share the story of your journey back to health and wholeness.
